​MISSION STATEMENT
Our Mission Statement

The Windham NH Democratic Town Committee, known as the Windems, believes that Windham is a beautiful, civic-minded, and historic town. We, the members of the Windems, are dedicated to strengthening the bonds of our community, increasing our visibility, engaging in community service, and building and supporting political capabilities to elect Democratic officials at every level.
We believe

  • in equality, civil rights, and the humane treatment of all people. We celebrate diversity.
  • ​our government and our elections should reflect the interests of the people of Windham, of New Hampshire and of the United States, not  only the wealthiest few and the biggest corporations. We must make it easier, not harder, for every legal voter to vote.
  • the health and safety of Windham residents should be a primary goal of all legislation and policy.
  • our public schools should prepare all students for college, careers, lifelong learning, and to be informed, engaged citizens of our  communities, our country, and our planet.
  • climate change poses a real and urgent threat to our economy, our national security, and our children's health and futures. We must commit to addressing the crisis. Protecting natural resources and public lands is important to a healthy and secure future for Windham.
  • in fostering smart-growth economic policies that support local businesses, promote access to housing for all, maintain residential  neighborhoods, respect the environment, provide opportunity for improved standards of living for workers, and control taxes. 
  • in regional initiatives that encourage our many municipalities to work together to solve common problems for the sake of efficiency and community spirit. We are not in this alone. 
Our Objectives

  • Educate ourselves and the public on relevant local, state, and federal issues of concern to Windham residents
  • Communicate with and work to create meaningful dialogue around ongoing improvements for our local government
  • Build local activism, make our voices heard, and fight for the issues important to us
  • Engage Democrats in our area
  • Engage Windham's young adults, as they are our future leaders
  • Promote Democratic messaging and the ideals of a better, more just future for all residents
  • Support the recruitment, candidacy, and election of Democratic officials at every level
  • Recommend Democrats for appointed town positions
  • Encourage local race voters to vote for candidates who support our mission statement
  • Support the efforts of the NH Democratic Party (NHDP)
  • Sponsor and encourage local activities that support our mission statement
  • Raise funds in support of these purposes
