WHAT DO WE FORESEE IN 2023

Let’s kick off the New Year by reviewing our mission,
reflecting on our accomplishments, and planning for 2023.
  1. Review Windems' Mission
  2. Reflect on 2022 accomplishments
  3. Prepare for March 14th Windham Town Elections (filing period Jan 25 - Feb 3)
  4. Prepare for March 8th Windems Caucus to elect a new board and delegates-at-large
  5. Plan for educating ourselves and the public on relevant issues (Come prepared to share the speakers and topics of interest to you.)

Change is coming!

Momentum is building toward change. Of course, it has only taken the deaths of 185 children in schools since Columbine in 1999, plus over 1,300 deaths since 2009 in mass shootings like the one in Buffalo two weeks ago, to push Americans to the edge. 

In 2020, a record 45,222 Americans died from guns.

The thing is, there is massive support for common sense gun safety regulations and it is not new. According to a Politico/Morning Consult poll, 88% of Americans support background checks; 84% support preventing gun sales to people who have been reported to police as dangerous by a mental health provider; 77% support requiring guns to be stored in safe storage; and 67% support banning assault-style weapons. 

Every leader who governs in our name, or aspires to do so, should be standing up for the legislation the majority of us favor. And they don't.

In Windham this year, common sense gun regulations were not supported by our Windham State Reps. .
