Scholarship Selection Process
Applications must be returned to the SHS Guidance Department by April 2, 2008.
Scholarship recipient will be determined after review of all applications received by the Scholarship Selection Committee based upon the following criteria:
- Academic performance
- Extracurricular activities
- Community involvement
- Financial need
- Essay of 500 words or less
The Scholarship Selection Committee is comprised of three members of the Salem Democratic Town Committee and two members of the Windham Democratic Town Committee. The two town chairs do not participate in the selection process.
The Selection Committee reviews applications without knowledge of the identity of the applicant to ensure impartiality. Committee members individually score each application on a weighted scorecard based on the criteria listed above. Results are tabulated and a winner is determined.
The scholarship winner will be notified by the chair of the Selection Committee and the award will be presented at the annual Salem High School Awards Ceremony.
